Inspired a little by dear Picasso, this lovely lady has two faces, each recording individual thoughts about what is happening.
From Paris with Love is about the New Zealand girl who got married, lives on a farm in the Waikato; tries to maintain her old lifestyle but gradually looses touch. Then her friend sends her elegant shoes from Paris. Im sure you can figure the rest out.
Collette has deliberately thrown the perspective on this as in the shelves behind her head where the memories are stored.
An original painting by New Zealand contemporary artist Collette Fergus.
500mm x 900mm x 35mm deep
Acrylic on canvas
"My mother said to me, 'If you become a soldier, you'll be a general; if you become a monk you'll end up as the pope.' Instead I became a painter and wound up as Picasso."
- Pablo Picasso
