The Ghost Dress: Dress Painting
The Ghost Dress is a contemporary mixed media painting of a vintage lace dress from the Ghost Dress series inspired by a visit to the Waitomo Caves Hotel where Collette had a ghostly encounter one new year.
Built in the 1800s, the hotel is said to be one of the top ten most haunted places in New Zealand. Legend has it that the hotel sits atop a portal to otherworldly realms, amplifying its reputation for supernatural occurrences.
Collette, channels the eerie atmosphere of the Waitomo Caves Hotel into the Ghost Dress, an original handpainted piece of New Zealand art by a New Zealand artist.
As a Contemporary New Zealand Artist based in Waikato, Collette shares with you her encounter in a ghostly portrait of an era long ago.
